A commissioned mock WWII recruitment poster, featuring Abe the squirrel, who is copyright his player. The poster is based on an actual WWII era poster, visible here: http://www.wwii-collectibles.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/uspaf221.jpg

This was a lot of fun for me, because it is a very different graphic style, and it was fun to try to draw the character in the style of the time.

Note also that the signature is dated '43 instead of '07 ^.^ Just for fun.

Done with ink, acrylics and watercolors on 9"x12" illustration board.

I really like this. The perspective is nice and the colors rock. I couldn't watercolor to save my life.

Well done!

This is very outside the box rom what I have seen you do previously. But you pulled it off well. Got the style down. Very outside the box, and a good illustration too.

@Wolfpaw999

Good luck with creating a gallery and not stealing icons.
Do you even know which war this is referencing?

Lovely work!
One tiny nit pick - The U.S. Army flying division was called the Army Air Corps, not Air Force. The Air Corp became the U.S. Air Force in 1947.
Of course, that doesn't change the fact that this is really a great pic!

Just out of curiosity... why does a plane in an ad for the U.S. Army have Nazi and Japanese decals on it?

Because those are "kill stickers"...

Yarp. Each plane you shot down you would get a kill decal. Some of the fighter planes you see in WWII museums are amazing with how many there are on them. The tradition was continued on warships of the era. For instance the aircraft carrier just outside of Charleston, SC has kills for the ships, aircraft, etc they had kills on.

WOW! I love this once Kacey! It is so exactly like the style from back then - a style I have always enjoyed.
